Description
The Charlevoix County Community Foundation’s Youth Needs Cycle supports leading youth needs in Charlevoix County and strengthens the organizations addressing them. Priorities are shaped by the Youth Advisory Committee (YAC), which surveys students in grades 7–12 every three years through a Youth Needs Assessment. Youth mental health is the central grantmaking priority, emphasizing access to resources for anxiety and depression and open conversation about mental health.
Other focus areas include academic stress and school atmosphere: homework pressure, imbalance between school and personal life, bullying, and belonging, including adult intervention. All requests benefiting youth are considered, even outside these priorities. The program values collaboration, prevention, new approaches to existing needs, helping people help themselves, and avoiding duplication of services.
