Description
Innovate UK, part of UK Research and Innovation, delivers this Department for Transport-funded competition through the UK Shipping Office for Reducing Emissions (UK SHORE) programme. It supports the development and build of innovative vessel energy-efficiency technologies and accompanying innovative infrastructure upgrades, helping reduce maritime greenhouse gas emissions and advance the UK’s Maritime Decarbonisation Strategy.
Projects must demonstrate funded vessels and infrastructure in representative real-world operations for three years. Energy-efficiency technology must reduce both emissions and energy use per unit of transport work. The competition supports industrial research and experimental development, with particular interest in projects involving multiple vessels and multiple end users. Proposals must show commercial viability, significant market potential and value to the UK economy.
