Description
Innovate UK, part of UK Research and Innovation, delivers this Department for Transport-funded competition through the UK Shipping Office for Reducing Emissions (UK SHORE). It supports the development and build of innovative clean maritime technologies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, followed by deployment and sustained demonstration in representative commercial operating conditions.
The Electric Power strand covers innovative 100% battery-electric vessels and accompanying charging infrastructure, alongside novel, commercially viable shore power systems, related port energy infrastructure and vessel upgrades. Industrial research and experimental development are supported. Projects must demonstrate significant well-to-wake emissions reductions, commercial potential and value to the UK economy. Projects involving multiple vessels for multiple end users are a particular priority, although other proposals addressing the central themes are welcome.
