Description
The Washington State Department of Transportation’s Zero-emissions Access Program supports the development and operation of zero-emission carshare pilots in underserved and low- to moderate-income communities. It aims to expand access to clean-fuel transportation, particularly where reliable public transit is limited. Washington’s Climate Commitment Act provides state funding for the program.
Projects can obtain zero-emission vehicles and charging equipment, install charging infrastructure specifically for carshare use, and develop and manage carshare services. WSDOT encourages applicants to tailor services to local needs and make vehicles and materials accessible, including through suitable locations, translated information, community-specific outreach, and participation options for people facing banking or technology barriers.
