    Description

The Zero Emissions Award is administered by the Austrian Science Fund’s alpha+ Foundation and funded through a private donation from American entrepreneur Patrick S. Dumont. It supports researchers at universities and non-university research institutions across all scientific disciplines, generating knowledge needed for the energy transition and contributing to Austria’s goal of climate neutrality by 2040.

The award seeks to close knowledge gaps, identify groundbreaking approaches, and spur innovation. Its priorities are excellent basic research promoting innovation in renewable energies and the energy transition, research on technological conditions needed for widespread implementation, and behavioral research on renewable-energy use. Proposals are submitted through the FWF’s Principal Investigator Projects or ESPRIT programs, with enhanced funding for projects selected by the Foundation.
