The National Institutes of Health (NIH) plans to solicit early to definitive clinical trials through a two-phase, milestone-driven R61/R33 award. The R61 phase supports planning activities; the R33 phase supports a clinical trial. Proposed trials should align with the research mission of participating NIH institutes, centers, and offices.
The initiative is interested in trials testing drugs, devices, biologics, procedures, and behavioral, social, economic, health services, or other biomedical or non-pharmacological interventions. NIH issued the forecast to give potential applicants time to develop collaborations and projects. Investigators with expertise in clinical trial planning, design, implementation, intervention development, or stakeholder engagement are encouraged to consider applying.
