Summary: Supports research and plan design to improve Georgians with IDD’s transitions from high school to competitive, integrated employment or continuing education.
Key Information: GCDD funds may not be used for direct services.
The Georgia Council on Developmental Disabilities (GCDD) offers this competitive opportunity, grant number 27SA3, to address the “transition cliff” for Georgians with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The project will assess outcomes after high school—including employment, continuing education, and no identified postsecondary plan—and design stronger pathways toward self-determined, economically secure lives. It supports GCDD’s self-advocacy and economic security priorities.
The work combines a literature review, environmental scan and gap analysis, program inventory, transition-outcome data, and community consultation. Findings must inform a scalable, replicable plan identifying implementation steps, measurable outcomes, responsible agencies, evaluation measures, resource estimates, and sustainability strategies. Cultural, geographic, and demographic differences must shape the analysis and recommendations, with meaningful input from people with IDD and their families throughout.
