Summary: GETS supports transnational research and innovation on sustainable food value chains, consumer agency and innovative food processing.
Key Information: Consortia need at least three partners from three different countries, eligible for and requesting participating funders’ support.
GETS is the third joint transnational co-funded call from FutureFoodS, the European partnership for a sustainable Future of Food Systems. Funded by the European Commission, it supports exploratory research and projects accelerating innovation towards environmentally friendly, socially fair, economically viable, healthy and safe food systems. FutureFoodS runs the call and awards and pays funding through a cascade-funding arrangement.
Projects must address one of three topics: trusted and transparent sustainable food value chains; consumer agency and enabling food environments for healthy, safe and sustainable food practices; or innovative processing for sustainable, safe and nutritious food products. Priorities include traceability and consumer trust, food literacy and affordability, and processing innovations with potential for wider uptake. The partnership focuses on post-harvest issues, using a food systems approach that connects actors, dependencies and opportunities for transformation.
