The Hadassah-Brandeis Institute (HBI) Research Awards provide annual grants to support outstanding research and artistic projects that advance the field of Jewish women’s and gender studies. These awards are designed to fund work that applies gender analysis to Jewish studies, brings Jewish studies perspectives to women’s and gender studies, or explores interreligious collaborations involving Jewish women. Projects may be rooted in the humanities, social sciences, arts, or interdisciplinary fields.
Special award categories include gender and antisemitism, the Holocaust, Jewish-Black relations, feminism, disability studies, LGBTQ studies, women’s rights and religious law, and contemporary Israel. The program is highly competitive, with applications reviewed by external experts and HBI advisory committees for excellence and potential impact.
