Description
The Hadassah-Brandeis Institute (HBI) at Brandeis University supports interdisciplinary research and artistic projects in Jewish women’s and gender studies. Funded by gifts from HBI’s Board of Advisors, the awards serve graduate students, early-career and established researchers, and creative practitioners. Supported artistic work includes creative writing, film and video, performance arts, and visual arts.
Projects should have the potential to make a significant contribution by using gender to inform Jewish studies, bringing insights from Jewish studies into women’s and gender studies, or exploring interreligious collaborations between Jewish women and women of other faiths. The program’s 2027 topic categories span antisemitism, the Holocaust, Jewish-Black relations, feminism, disability, LGBTQ Jewish studies, religious law, and Israel and Zionism.
