Description
The Arkansas Division of Elementary and Secondary Education runs this grant as part of its High-Impact Tutoring Pilot Program, established under the LEARNS Act. It helps public school districts and open-enrollment public charter schools establish or expand tutoring in English language arts and/or mathematics for students in kindergarten through grade 12. The program aims to accelerate learning through frequent, targeted, data-driven instruction, with funding directed toward plans serving students with the highest need.
High-impact tutoring takes place during the school day and supplements rather than replaces core instruction. It uses groups of four or fewer students, or one-on-one instruction, with a consistent tutor or set of tutors. The program calls for at least three sessions per week of at least 30 minutes each, or a comparable direct-tutoring model based on specific skills needed.
