Description
The Louisiana Workforce Commission administers the Incumbent Worker Training Program (IWTP) through partnerships among employers, business and industry, and training providers. Funded by a dedicated portion of unemployment insurance tax contributions, it supports training for existing workers rather than individual research projects. Customized Training helps prevent job losses associated with obsolete skills, technological change, or competition, and supports creating, updating, or retaining jobs in labor-demand occupations.
Small Business Employee Training (SBET) supports off-the-shelf training for Louisiana businesses with 50 or fewer employees. It reimburses eligible training costs after completion and documentation. The two components have distinct application resources and reimbursement arrangements. Regional program advisors help employers and training providers develop applications and provide technical assistance to award recipients.
