Description
The Washington State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) offers the LifeSkills: Planning and Preparation Grant as part of its Botvin LifeSkills Training substance abuse prevention opportunities. It supports educators and counselors taking Middle School Online Training and covers the Teacher’s Manual and Student Guide needed for training.
OSPI also describes planning and prevention work that uses local Healthy Youth Survey data to identify substance use prevention and intervention needs and assess whether the curriculum is a good fit. Botvin LifeSkills aims to help students manage stress and anxiety, build relationships and communication skills, and develop refusal skills to prevent and reduce substance use and abuse. Its middle-school curriculum is designed for sequential instruction across grades 6–8.
