Illinois State Board of Education
The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) is a state-level educational agency dedicated to providing leadership, resources, and support to Illinois' educational system. Its vision is that 'each and every child is equipped to make meaningful contributions to society and live life to its fullest potential.' The agency's mission is to provide safe and healthy learning conditions, great educators, and equitable opportunities through data-informed stewardship of resources and policy development, done in partnership with educators, families, and stakeholders. ISBE focuses on three primary goals: 1) Student Learning - ensuring every child makes significant academic gains and graduates equipped for a successful future, with special attention to addressing historic inequities, 2) Learning Conditions - providing resources for safe, healthy, and welcoming learning environments that meet each student's unique academic and social-emotional needs, and 3) Elevating Educators - supporting a diverse population of educators prepared through multiple pathways to provide education that meets each child's needs.
