Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity is a prestigious organization founded in 1903 that promotes interaction among those committed to music. The fraternity supports members across collegiate and alumnae chapters in all areas of music and campus life. Members are active musicians, teachers, performers, professionals, and patrons of local and national arts organizations. SAI provides personal encouragement, support, scholarships, grants, and awards in music-related study. The organization is recognized as a leader in the field of music and has several notable philanthropic projects, including: 1) PAN PIPES quarterly publication listing American musical premieres, 2) People-to-People Music Project sending music, instruments, and educational materials worldwide, 3) Triennial Inter-American Music Awards recognizing creative composition, and 4) Offering undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, and summer music scholarships.
