Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs

The Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA) is a unique state-level agency that oversees both environmental and energy regulatory agencies in Massachusetts. It is the first state in the nation to combine energy and environmental agencies under one Cabinet secretary. The EEA seeks to protect, preserve, and enhance the Commonwealth's environmental resources while ensuring a clean energy future for the state's residents. Through stewardship of open space, protection of environmental resources, and enhancement of clean energy, the agency works to make Massachusetts a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family. The agency serves multiple constituencies including Commonwealth residents interested in outdoor recreational opportunities, energy consumers, businesses interacting with environmental protection laws, clean energy companies, farmers, and residents working with animals. The agency is currently led by Secretary Rebecca Tepper and encompasses numerous sub-organizations including the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources, Department of Conservation & Recreation, Department of Energy Resources, Department of Fish and Game, and many other specialized offices and commissions.
