The Society of Vertebrate Paleontology (SVP) is a diverse global organization dedicated to advancing the science of vertebrate paleontology. Its core purposes include: 1) Advancing vertebrate paleontology science worldwide, 2) Serving the interests of professionals and enthusiasts concerned with vertebrate animal history, evolution, ecology, comparative anatomy, and taxonomy, 3) Supporting the discovery, conservation, and protection of vertebrate fossils and fossil sites, and 4) Fostering scientific, educational, and public appreciation of vertebrate fossils.
