About American Association for Thoracic Surgery

The American Association for Thoracic Surgery (AATS) is an international organization of surgeons and scientists specializing in cardiothoracic surgery. It works to advance the science and practice of surgery of the heart, lungs, and other organs of the chest.

Through its foundation and programs, the association supports research and the development of the cardiothoracic workforce with grants, fellowships, and career development awards. These opportunities help train surgeon-scientists and fund research that improves the treatment of cardiothoracic disease.

Awards are made through competitive review and are generally aimed at residents, fellows, and early-career surgeons and investigators, with eligibility defined per program. Surgeons, trainees, and researchers can find current AATS funding opportunities and deadlines on Atom.
