Arizona Department of Emergency and Military Affairs

The Arizona Department of Emergency and Military Affairs (DEMA) is the state agency responsible for Arizona's emergency management and military operations. It is organized into the Division of Emergency Management, the Arizona National Guard (Army and Air), and the Division of Administrative Services, and is headquartered at the Papago Park Military Reservation in Phoenix. The department's Emergency Management Division coordinates statewide preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation, and administers a range of federal and state grants that flow through to counties, tribes, local jurisdictions, state agencies and eligible non-profits. Its Grant Administration Branch oversees programs including the Emergency Management Performance Grant, Governor's Emergency Funds, the Border Security Fund, and other preparedness and response grants, while its Mitigation Branch administers Hazard Mitigation Assistance (404) grants and the Public Assistance Branch administers Public Assistance and 406 mitigation funding under the Robert T. Stafford Act.
