About German Research Foundation
The German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG) is the central self-governing research funding organization in Germany. It serves the sciences and humanities by funding excellent research at universities and research institutions and by promoting the advancement of early-career researchers.
The DFG funds work across all disciplines, from the natural sciences and engineering to the life sciences, humanities, and social sciences. Its support spans individual research grants, coordinated and collaborative programs, research centers and training groups, fellowships, and major research infrastructure.
