Military Health System Research Program

The Military Health System Research Program supports biomedical and health research aimed at protecting, sustaining, and improving the health and readiness of military service members and the broader military health system. It addresses health threats and conditions of particular relevance to those who serve.

The program funds research across areas such as combat casualty care, military-relevant infectious diseases, psychological health, rehabilitation, and force health protection, frequently in coordination with the Department of Defense medical research enterprise. This work spans basic discovery through clinical application.

Funding is awarded to universities, nonprofit research institutions, companies, and government laboratories through broad agency announcements and other mechanisms, with eligibility and terms defined in each solicitation.
