About Simons Foundation
The Simons Foundation is a private foundation based in New York City, established by mathematician and investor James Simons and his wife Marilyn. Its mission is to advance the frontiers of research in mathematics and the basic sciences, supporting both individual investigators and large collaborative efforts.
The foundation funds work across mathematics, theoretical physics, theoretical computer science, the life sciences, and astrophysics, and it supports autism research through a dedicated initiative. It also operates an internal research institute and invests in efforts to broaden public understanding of science.
Simons funds researchers through investigator awards, targeted grants, and multi-institution collaborations, with many programs open to applications and others proceeding by nomination. Scientists can find current Simons Foundation opportunities and deadlines on Atom.
