American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies

The American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies (ASECS), founded in 1969, is the foremost learned society in the United States for the study of all aspects of the period from the later seventeenth through the early nineteenth century — the "long eighteenth century." Its interdisciplinary membership spans literature, history, art history, music, philosophy, and the sciences. In partnership with leading research libraries and institutions, ASECS sponsors a program of research fellowships, travel-to-collection grants, and named funds that support scholars at every career stage — including library and archival fellowships, conference travel support for graduate students and non-tenure-track faculty, and awards for research-in-progress. The Society also confers a set of book, article, and essay prizes recognizing distinguished published scholarship.
