American Society for Theatre Research
The American Society for Theatre Research (ASTR) is a U.S.-based professional organization that fosters scholarship on worldwide theatre and performance, both historical and contemporary. Members describe the Society as a space to share scholarship and a home for networking within the profession. ASTR sponsors or coordinates several awards, grants, fellowships, and prizes to support and recognize outstanding scholarship in theatre and performance studies. The organization hosts an annual conference and provides resources for theatre and performance researchers, including a journal called Theatre Survey, mentoring resources, and networking opportunities for academic and professional theatre researchers.
