Introducing Internal Collaboration Search

Find the Right Researchers Faster on Atom Grants

background image

Research administrators know that the right collaboration can make or break a proposal. But identifying the perfect internal partner, especially across large, multidisciplinary institutions, can be time-consuming and fragmented.

That’s why we’re excited to announce a new suite of collaboration features in Atom Grants designed specifically for research administrators.

Search Your Researcher Directory by Research Interests

researchersearch

Admins can now search through their institution’s researcher directory using the same AI-powered semantic search engine that drives Atom’s external grant discovery.

Instead of relying on exact matches for names, titles, or departments, you can now search by keywords, topics, or research themes, and find researchers whose expertise aligns conceptually, not just textually.

For example:

  • Searching “machine learning for climate modeling” surfaces researchers working in both AI applications and environmental sciences, even if those exact words don’t appear in their profiles.
  • A query like “community health interventions” connects you to public health and sociology experts who study overlapping issues.

This makes it easier than ever to uncover hidden connections within your institution, and spark collaborations that might not have otherwise happened.

See Matched Researchers on Each Grant

We’ve also added a new “Researchers” tab to every grant listing. When you open a funding opportunity, Atom Grants now automatically displays researchers at your institution who are a strong fit for that opportunity, based on their research interests, prior work, and profile data.

This means:

  • Faster internal matchmaking for competitive proposals
  • Fewer missed opportunities for cross-departmental partnerships
  • More strategic team formation aligned with institutional strengths

Built for Research Administrators

These features were designed with research administrators in mind, helping you:

  • Quickly identify potential PIs and co-PIs
  • Facilitate cross-campus collaboration
  • Strengthen proposals with complementary expertise
  • Save time navigating large researcher directories

What’s Next

This release marks a key milestone in Atom’s mission to make research discovery and collaboration frictionless. We'll be introducing external collaborator search as a new module soon so stay tuned for more information.
