Introducing Eligibility 2.0

Smarter, Faster, and More Precise Grant Matching

background image

We have completely reworked how eligibility matching works at Atom Grants to make your search for funding more reliable and efficient. Our new Eligibility 2.0 engine uses AI to automatically extract requirements from grants and profile details from researchers. This ensures that your recommendations are based on explicit criteria rather than just page content.

Why We Built It

We built Eligibility 2.0 because we know that deciphering grant requirements is one of the most time consuming and frustrating parts of the research process. Researchers tell us that the hardest part of grant discovery is not finding opportunities but rather figuring out which ones are worth the effort of a full proposal.

Previously, matching relied heavily on broad page content which could lead to ambiguous results. A grant might be technically open to you but if your research does not align with the funder priorities your time is better spent elsewhere. By shifting to an AI driven model that extracts explicit criteria we have removed the guesswork. This update provides researchers with instant and reliable signals upfront so they can stop digging through PDFs and start focusing on what really matters.

Under the Hood: Speed and Accuracy

To deliver these improvements we rearchitected the core of our platform. Eligibility parsing no longer needs to read through the entire RFP because we now pre generate the eligibility requirements. This reduces context and cost while significantly increasing speed and improving accuracy.

We have also replaced the old probability score with a concrete yes or no or a request for more information. When more info is needed the system will prompt you for the specific details required. Once you provide that info it is automatically added to your profile and your eligibility is recalculated instantly.

Two Step Evaluation

Previously, Atom provided a single eligibility assessment that tried to answer two different questions at once: Can I apply? and Is this a good match?. Now, those are handled as separate and focused evaluations:

  • Eligibility Check: Can you actually apply? Atom reviews the grant requirements against your profile to confirm you meet the basic criteria.
  • Fit Score: How strong is the match? Atom analyzes how well the grant goals and priorities and scope align with your specific research.

This ensures you never waste time on a grant you cannot apply to while knowing exactly which eligible grants deserve your attention first.

What’s New in Eligibility 2.0?

  • Automatic Extraction: Your eligibility status now updates instantly whenever you change your research interests or profile details.
  • Clear Requirement Breakdowns: Both your profile page and individual grant overviews now feature clear eligibility panels showing exactly how you fit specific requirements.
  • Smarter Grant Emails: Your weekly emails now highlight match quality. Grants are sorted by Fit Score so the best opportunities float to the top while ineligible grants are filtered out entirely.
  • Precision Matching: Grant recommendations and dashboard feeds use pre extracted data for lightning fast and high precision matching.
  • Active Feedback: If a requirement is not clear or your profile is missing information you can provide feedback or updates directly within the UI.

This upgrade ensures that you spend less time deciphering complex grant guidelines and more time focused on what matters.

Administration and Quality of Life Improvements

We have also rolled out several updates to streamline workflows for admins and improve the overall platform experience:

  • Admin View as Researcher Speed: The researcher dropdown for admins now loads the first 100 members instantly and features improved search and self exclusion.
  • Forecasted Grant Notifications: If you favorite a forecasted grant you will now receive an email the moment the official grant listing goes live.
  • Polished Deep Research: Admins will notice a modern and centered loading experience with progress bars and status crossfades during grant analysis.
