Welcome to the Team

Meet Our Senior Engineer

background image

We're thrilled to announce that Matteus Tanha has joined Atom Grants as our new Senior Engineer. With his unique blend of deep AI expertise, product-minded engineering leadership, and firsthand research experience, Matteus brings exactly the perspective we need to make grant discovery and matching more intelligent for the organizations we serve.

Why We're Excited to Welcome Matteus

Matteus's journey to Atom Grants feels like a natural fit. With more than a decade of experience building and deploying production AI and NLP systems, he has focused on information retrieval and knowledge management at scale, work that maps directly to our mission. His background in semantic search, entity extraction, and scalable AI architecture will help us continue improving how users find the right funding opportunities faster and with greater confidence.

Across media, finance, and SaaS, Matteus has led AI strategy and engineering teams while staying deeply hands-on. That balance of technical depth and product thinking gives him a practical lens on what it takes to turn advanced AI into features that solve real user problems.

Research-Grade Thinking, Product Impact

What stands out most about Matteus is his curiosity about how language, knowledge, and systems connect. His long-standing interest in philosophy and language naturally complements his work in NLP and knowledge representation, and it brings a thoughtful, first-principles approach to the challenges we tackle at Atom Grants.

His academic foundation is equally strong. Matteus earned his PhD from Carnegie Mellon University, giving him firsthand understanding of research workflows and academic environments. That insight is especially meaningful as we continue building tools designed for researchers and research-driven organizations.

Outside Work

Matteus also brings a broad international perspective shaped by living in Sweden, Japan, the USA, and the UK. Outside of work, he enjoys experimenting with cooking, climbing, and martial arts, pursuits that reflect the same discipline, creativity, and continuous learning he brings to engineering.

Looking Ahead

In his new role, Matteus will help lead the next chapter of AI-driven product development at Atom Grants, with a focus on improving search relevance, knowledge extraction, and platform intelligence. His experience across industries and deep expertise in AI systems will be invaluable as we continue scaling our impact.

We're excited to have Matteus on board and look forward to the fresh perspective he'll bring to the team. His combination of technical excellence, strategic thinking, and genuine curiosity makes him an incredible addition to Atom Grants.

Welcome to the team, Matteus! We can't wait to see what we'll accomplish together.
