For researchers
Grant filters
Save custom filters to a project so the grants that reach your dashboard, digests, and Deep Research are the ones that actually fit. Set them once and they stay applied for as long as the project is active.
Setting a project's filters
Filters live on a project's create form and on its settings page, as the same chip bar in both places. Select Add filter, pick a filter, and set its details in the popover that opens. Each active filter shows as its own chip that you can edit or remove.

What you can filter on
| Filter | What you set |
|---|---|
| Funders | Federal, State, Association/Society, Foundation, Corporate, Academic, International, or Other. Open a type to pick individual funders, or federal agencies such as NSF, HHS, DOE, and NASA. |
| Deadline | A rolling window: due after a length of time, due within one, or both. See rolling deadlines below. |
| Amount | A minimum, a maximum, or a range for the award size. |
| Proposal Type | Grant, Fellowship, Travel / Conference, Cooperative Agreement, or Other. |
| Location | One or more US states. |
| Citizenship | A country or a whole region, such as United States, North America, or Europe. |
| Career Stage | Individual stages from undergraduate to senior professor, plus organization types such as academic institution, non-profit, government, and small business. |
| Newly Listed | On or off. Limits the project to opportunities added to Atom in the last two weeks. |
| Clinical Trials | On or off. Limits the project to clinical trial opportunities. |
| Limited Submissions | On or off. Limits the project to opportunities where your institution may submit only a set number of applications. |
| Forecasted | Only forecasted opportunities, only active ones, or both. |
Add as many as you need. A project with no filters matches on its research interests and eligibility alone.
Rolling deadlines
Instead of a fixed date, set a deadline filter as a rolling window, like "due after 2 weeks" or "due within 3 months." A rolling window keeps working as time passes, so the project never needs updating just because a date came and went.
Where filters apply
A project's saved filters apply everywhere that project is the active context:
- Dashboard: your feed narrows to grants that match the project's filters.
- Grant digest emails: weekly digests only include opportunities that fit.
- Deep Research: runs honor the project's filters, so results stay relevant to what you are actually pursuing.
If a project's dashboard or digest looks too narrow, check its saved filters before assuming there is nothing new to find.
Filters are one part of a project's setup. See projects for research interests, eligibility, team roles, and how the active project drives the rest of Atom.
